STORY

This table was designed and built as a personal challenge to see how far we could take a simple item like a table and simplify it in certain ways. We started out with a few constraints, first, we wanted to minimize the number of parts required.

The second constraint was that we wanted an item that could flat pack easily and assemble just as easily, to accomplish this, the whole table is put together using our own fastener system that we developed to allow a very strong construction, yet ease of assembly and transport.

The last constrain was that we wanted it to have a uniquely handmade feel, this was accomplished by hand sculpting the middle component on this table, this way each item and each person building this item could leave their fingerprint on the final item, while allowing customers a truly unique piece for their collections, while still getting that mid century modern feel.

MATERIAL

Item is solid wood. All my wood arrives as rough sawn lumber, which affords me extra flexibility with my material. I do my best to match boards for grain, color and texture; that said, wood is natural and what you order may not look exactly like the picture, but it will be a unique work of art. All the wood used in T.Y. Fine Furniture is selected from naturally fallen trees, coming from local Ohio Forests. The glues are age old milk based blends that are tested for food contact.

FINISH

I believe wood should never be stained or sealed heavily. It robs the wood of its beauty and the end user of the pure experience and joy when buying an honestly made piece of furniture. I use my own wood finish which is an Oil+Wax blend. And because I treat my customers as I would my own family, my finish is 100% Organic and consists of only food grade ingredients. Additionally, the finish is incredibly easy to maintain and repair. Here is some more information on my finish:

Some applications require a more waterproof coating, so please let me know if you would like your item finished with a hard coating style finish.
