MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION
This beautiful hardwood table top is made from gorgeous, Grade-A solid Teak hardwood that’s given a very light & transparent stain to push it slightly from the already natural medium brown of Burmese teak to the med-dark brown of eastern walnut. Only hardwood is used, no sap wood. The wood is beautiful and unique, full of natural and organic character. The table glows with warm colors as we use penetrating pre-finish to make the wood’s own natural beauty glow. This is a celebration of material – only solid hardwood is used in the entirety of this table – we never use any fake materials, no MDF or press-board etc ever anywhere for any reason. The blocks are actually a more cohesive in person, the camera inevitably adds some contrast – well crafted wood is always more beautiful in person when you can actually see into the wood grain in the light

The tapered legs are solid hardwood and turned by hand for a classic mid-century, organic-modern style that looks equally natural in a boho, or contemporary interior design setting. The legs screw into metal plates underneath the table top for convenience of easy removal for storing/moving. The tabletop is 7/8″ (22mm) for a streamlined look and airy design. The process of preparing and laminating all these blocks is extremely labor intensive, making it difficult to profit from honestly, but it is a labor of love for us. Seeing the reclaimed blocks of beautiful grade-A hardwood get saved and turned into a one-of-a-kind tabletop makes it worth it. The “butcher-block” patterns created are not only unique & incredibly gorgeous but also rarely seen in an affordable price range due to the high labor input. Built this way, the tabletops are also exceptionally stable and long lasting. While they are certainly not cheap per se – we can honestly say its the absolute cheapest we could ever possibly make them and we make them to last a lifetime. Our goal is always heritage quality while remaining affordable to most – port rhombus design always puts democratic design over profitability and its been that way since 2010

FINISH
Letting the gorgeous natural material speak for itself and using clean lines in our designs makes our furniture look excellent in a wide variety of styles/contexts. It’s also very easy to maintain as its a “living finish”.

A living finish means that you can touch up the table as needed through its lifetime for any dings or scuffs. While our finish is a robust outdoor decking style finish, some marks in use are inevitable. A simple wipe on application commonly available Howard’s “Restore a finish” can remove scuffs and marks instantly and be used anytime you want to refresh the table. Teak Oil is an alternative wipe-on, easy maintenance care solution as well. A living finish also has an organic, satin look where the wood looks natural and organic – not like its encased in plastic and glossy

ASSEMBLY
The steel plates are already attached to the table for you – so all you need to do is insert in the legs for an easy 60 second assembly. As our table tops are a natural material the grain and color varies, though that patchwork is unique and the inherent beauty of the piece

US BUSINESS – drop shipping??
We are working out of Thailand currently since covid era but we’re absolutely a US business. Our business is registered as a US business, I’m an American and we pay US taxes. There are some shady business practices out there that don’t give the full story – let me state unequivocally – we do not drop-ship, I am the one who is making all of the products in house. I have never and will never resell a product someone else made, it goes against the ethos of port rhombus design – this will remain the same until I am no more 🙂

SHIPPING
*Please note – in regards to shipping price – we not only offer lower prices for solid walnut furniture than most other studios to make our products more accessible, we actually subsidize the shipping cost for you already as well. Typically the shipping prices we charge are already discounted by 30% from what we actually pay. Unfortunately the shipping companies often literally make more than we do off our own products. We’re very committed to keeping our designs affordable – and while we know it’s not cheap, know we’re doing the absolute best we can to make them affordable and still be able to afford health insurance and such necessities on our end. We ship most anywhere globally with DHL air courier services

MULTIPLE ITEMS
For multiple items the shipping discount is modest and is automatically applied – this is because not only are we already subsidizing for you – but also because courier shipping calculates both size and weight in cost so there is only a slight discount in the shipping cost scaling when adding more items at the size and weight of furniture pieces

RETURNS
These are handmade, made to order items so generally we would just replace any item if there’s an issues. That said – we would accept returns as we wouldn’t want anyone to be unhappy with one of our pieces. However, there are some stipulations. The item must be returned to us in perfect condition. The original actual shipping amount would not be returned and additionally the buyer is required to pay for the shipping back to us. As such a return is not a ideal solution for buyer or seller. We are here to answer any question you might have though – so please ask and let us help you feel comfortable in your decision to order confidently

This item ships in a double-thick corrugated box to get to you safely, we have been shipping tables internationally for over 10 years so we know what works. Finally, while its extremely rare (due to the way we fill out the forms based on raw materials only) in the event that a customs duty is imposed as per standard practice it is of course the purchaser’s responsibility to pay the fee. It varies for every country but generally in the event a fee is applied it should be small because again we only claim the value as the raw material costs
